Yukon Adventure Trek 2 – Back Together with Friends
What started out as a friendly wheeling trip in the Pacific Northwest during the Spring of 2021, quickly became a game of where we going next? Considering that Yukon Gear & Axle is located up by Seattle, WA, most people don’t choose the PNW as a destination to trail run considering the beauty of Colorado, Utah, California, Arizona and other states that are heralded for their scenery and beauty.
So, when Yukon’s marketing team decided to invite a group of friends to wheel with us throughout Washington, it was planned to be a single three-day trip to say thanks for the partnerships created over many years. What it turned out to be was the start of a “where -we-going-next” conversation the last night of the tip. The use of the Backcountry Discovery Route, BDR, was a perfect trail through the state of Washington and low and behold, BDR’s can be found throughout the U.S., and a run from Park City, Utah south to Moab was planned for the next year.
The group of 15 vehicles stayed pretty much the same with a couple of new friends invited that became an instant success in choosing the Adventure Trek 2 run. The only change on the run would be that we would camp throughout the trail run as opposed the motels on Trek 1.
Big thanks to Dustin for the kick-off party at Sexton Off Road in Park City the first night. We all had a chance to review the 450-mile trip, gas stops, potential snow fields, scenic canyons and camping spots. We left Sexton’s full of excitement, ribs and great food, and were back and fueled up the next morning.
The trip did not disappoint anyone. The BDR was open the whole way south, we hit elevations of 10,000 feet, hard rock, clay, dust, and some great big bugs. We were stuck in a traffic jam of cows moving fields, and enjoyed some of the best trail food you can imagine.
Thanks to Andrew at Letz Roll Off-Road for tail gunning, Dusty Sexton for leading, John at CRAWL Magazine, Ian at Big Tire Garage, Tony from Genright, Nick from Rockstar, Steve from Nacho Lighting, Paula from Jeepin’ Gypsy, Justin from 23Zero and the crew from Yukon Gear & Axle for organizing Adventure Trek 2.
It’s a thing now with the third chapter in development. Stay tuned!
